AskHanuman Secures 6-Digit Funding

Thailand-based personal finance platform AskHanuman has recently secured a six-digit funding round led by Alpha Founders.

Based on a simple idea, AskHanuman is a personal finance platform that helps consumers find great deals on insurance and financial products. AskHanuman is also founded by the team behind Alpha Founders, the venture arm set up by the founding team of Lazada Thailand. Specifically, key appointments include Johannes von Rohr, the former CEO of Lazada Thailand, Keng Thongchua, as well as three other former managers at Lazada Thailand.

Other than Alpha Founders,  Thailand’s leading insurance broker also teamed up with AskHanuman as a partner in operations.

What was launched back in May 2013 with only a handful of car insurance listings has now grown to include other product categories, such as credit cards and loans. The website currently covers a listing of over 30 insurance companies, 10 leading banks, as well as 30 key marketing players around Thailand.

The funding will be used to hire more Thai staff, invest in local marketing partnerships, as well as expand into other product verticals. While AskHanuman is unable to reveal their revenue numbers, the two month-old startup claims to be growing at 40 percent week on week since they launched, and is reaching over 400,000 consumers every week, generating  an average of US$300 per order per month.
