LucasArts Singapore Devs form New Studio; Raises US$1.475M
New company Booster Pack receives funding from Cyberworld Studios, Ariel Star Group and Kathrein Ventures; focusses on creating games using premium IP
Singapore is brimming with talented game developers and startups. The country can now add one more possibly prolific startup to the ever-growing list: Booster Pack.
The team consists of former LucasArts Singapore members: games producer Kent Byers, lead designer Shane Gavin, senior engineer Chris Chu, and lead artist Benjamin Chevalier. The four decided to stay together following the closure of game studio LucasArts last year, and now has received US$1,475,000 in funding, thanks to lead investors Cyberworld Studios, Ariel Star Group and Kathrein Ventures.
According to a Techcrunch report, Byers said that the company will be focussed on making games using premium and high-quality intellectual properties, as well as contributing to the Singapore game industry. “In Southeast Asia, it’s really hard to bring together experienced teams, especially in Singapore. It’s just that there are not many gaming companies here yet but it is growing.”
